The aim of our Rape Gang Inquiry was to do, not to talk. The survivors had heard enough talk, for years and years - it was time to actually do something. We’ve heard promises of inquiries and action from various parties, but nothing was happening. Nothing. So my thought was, why not actually do something? We launched the funding, and very quickly it became the biggest political crowdfunder in British political history - with virtually no help from the mainstream media. They just didn’t want to know. Although they were all quick to report the malicious complaint, immediately thrown out, made against us last Friday… Funny that, isn’t it? We went through social media, direct to the people. The people responded, and over £600k was raised. A team has been put together, and we have spoken to hundreds and hundreds of victims, survivors, officials, whistleblowers and more. Evidence is being collected, the hearing stage is being organised and then a full report will be presented. Research has already been released, with lots more to come from our many thousands of FOI requests. Our work has helped to shape the debate and put pressure on the Labour Government to finally act. That is progress, but this is only the start. Today, we’re welcoming roughly 60 survivors and whistleblowers to Westminster as part of that process. Giving these people a voice in the institutions that so desperately failed them. Every MP has been invited to speak with the survivors - thank you to those who have responded. If you are reading this and think your MP should attend, please ask them. Put pressure on them. They should all be there. We are expecting some very brave survivors to speak in a way they have never spoken before, with all the appropriate safeguards in place. It is going to be a challenging day.
